Plus size waterproof over trousers from Outdoor Research.
Waterproof, breathable, and lightweight, the GORE-TEX® Aspire Pants from Outdoor Research have been winning awards for years for their dependable rain protection and feature-packed details. Three-quarter-length side zippers let you pull these on over your hiking boots mid-downpour, and vent out excess heat when you're working hard. A back pocket doubles as a stuff sack so you can pack it down easily when conditions calm down and dry off, and it has a carabiner loop to easily clip onto a backpack or climbing harness.
These trousers are now discontinued, current stock is all that is available. They have been replaced by the new season Aspire 3L Pants.

Why we love the plus size Aspire Rain Pants
Finding waterproof over-trousers that fit women's plus size bodies has always been a huge struggle. Outdoor Research worked with Unlikely Hikers in the US to re-create the patterns for their best selling products, using measurements from real plus size people. This means the the trouser rise works for bigger bums and tums, and overall, the trousers are shaped to fit the different proportions of plus size bodies. Hurrah! A pair of waterproof trousers that fits at last.
We particularly love the Aspire for its lightweight but robust approach to weather protection - which means their ideal for spending all day out in the rain, and if you run hot when you hike, the venting options from the thigh-high zip help to regulate your temperature and keep you comfortable for longer.
